DENVER (AP) — A Black man who died after a police encounter in a Denver suburb in 2019 died because he was injected with a powerful sedative after being forcibly restrained, according to an amended autopsy report publicly released Friday.
Despite the finding, the death of Elijah McClain, a 23-year-old massage therapist, was still listed as undetermined, the report shows. McClain was put in a neck hold and injected with ketamine after being stopped by police in Aurora for “being suspicious.” He was unarmed.

St. Louis Cardinals slugger Albert Pujols has hit his 700th career homer, becoming the fourth player to reach the milestone in major league history. Pujols connected his second home run of the game, a three-run drive against Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Phil Bickford in the fourth inning. The ball landed in the first few rows of the left-field pavilion, the same location homer No. 699 — a two-run shot — landed in the third inning off left-hander Andrew Heaney. Pujols has driven in all five of the Cardinals runs and they lead the Dodgers 5-0.
CHICAGO – The White Sox came into the game Friday with their playoff hopes not completely torn but frayed badly after being swept at home by Cleveland.
Riley Greene’s sacrifice fly drove in a tiebreaking run in the seventh inning and the Detroit Tigers handed the fading Chicago White Sox their fourth straight loss, 5-3. Akil Baddoo singled off reliever Reynaldo Lopez (5-4) to lead off the seventh, then advanced to third when he stole second and catcher Yasmani Grandal’s throw sailed into center field. Baddoo trotted home on Greene’s fly to center to put the Tigers ahead 4-3. Spencer Torkelson’s ground-rule double in the eighth scored an insurance run and Detroit went on to win for the third time in four games. Jonathan Schoop had a solo shot and Eric Haase added two hits and an RBI to help the last-place Tigers improve to 5-12 against the White Sox.
Brad Roberts had 123 yards and three touchdowns rushing, Ben Brittain threw an 80-yard touchdown pass and Air Force defeated Nevada 48-20. Brittain’s 80-yard pass to David Cormier in the second quarter was the Falcons’ only completed pass of the game. It was backup QB Brittain’s first and only pass attempt since the 2020 season. For Roberts, it was the second time in three games that he scored three rushing touchdowns, which is his career high. The Falcons had 541 total yards, 461 on the ground. Toa Taua had seven carries for 73 yards and two touchdowns for the Wolf Pack.
